Copenhagen ein Film von Mark Raso mit Gethin Anthony, Frederikke Dahl Hansen. Inhaltsangabe: Nach einigen Wochen seiner Europareise.

Effy starts undressing and kisses William, initially he returns the kiss before stopping and picking up a sheet to cover the partially naked Effy.

They still spend the night together. It is not said if they slept together, but the presumption is they probably did not.

The next morning, William thanks Effy and they go their separate ways. William must accept his past, the mature beyond-her-years Effy must be a kid again.

William, a man whose growth was stunted by his father abandoning him as a child, must learn to finally grow up.

Effy returns to her mom's apartment, where her Mom's now sober boyfriend tries to make up with her. Effy, fed up with her mom's boyfriend sexually harassing her, rejects his advances and tells her mom about it.

Effy's mom breaks up with her obnoxious boyfriend and she and Effy grow even closer. William soon arrives at the home of his grandfather and delivers his father's letter to the grandfather he had never known.

Back at school, Effy quietly looks at several pictures she had taken with William and smiles at one of her sleeping in the hotel room she had shared with William.

At the same time, William stands at the symbolic Skagen, where the North Sea meets the Baltic, presumably thinking about the impact meeting Effy has had on his life.

Hundreds of kilometers apart from each other, Effy and William both hope that someday they will be together again. The film was produced by Fidelio Films and Scorched Films.

The film was shot in Copenhagen. The film was produced by Mauro Mueller and Mette Thygesen. New York Times film critic David DeWitt writes that Raso's "absorbing film has a delicate nuance that will linger after the popcorn's gone".

Better still, he gets a pitch-perfect performance from Danish up-and-comer Hansen, who greatly impresses with her unaffected spontaneity, playing Effy as both precociously wise and tremulously vulnerable".

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. A major contributor to this article appears to have a close connection with its subject.

The image onscreen is what is important, and what it might mean is up for grabs. It makes Effy's inner life a place of mystery and power.

She has gone to this museum a lot to visit her doppelgänger. She has wondered about that woman in ancient Greece or Rome, wondered at the connection.

She feels in touch with something eternal in herself. None of this is stated explicitly but it pulses off the screen.

What one may expect to happen does not exactly go down as planned. There are moments when it is not clear at all why Effy is even choosing to hang out with William, who is rude and combative in moments big and small.

But she wants to know what happened to William's grandfather. Over the course of the film an interesting thing starts happening.

William starts to take responsibility for the words he uses. He starts to actually listen to himself and do his best to change course.

A lifetime of being a rude rage-boy will not vanish overnight, and a lesser film would have made it Effy's job to show him the better way.

But "Copenhagen" isn't really about that. Nobody can save you. You have to save yourself. Talented cinematographer Alan Poon gives us dreamy beautiful shots of the city, its buildings, canals, cobblestone alleyways, crowded nightclubs.

His work helps ground the film. Hopefully we all do our best and try not to hurt one another; try to be kind. William doesn't quite get that, not yet, because he's too self-righteous and pissed off.

But the film is, in many ways, his lurching journey towards starting to understand that his character is up to him and him alone.

So, obviously I watched "Copenhagen" to the end. If you liked "Before sunrise" trilogy, the movie aspires to them, except the script here is the main problem and that's a shame.

So, the actors: the main character played by Gethin Anthony does what he can with the script but because the script is flat, his talents go unsupervised and honestly I got lost at times.

For example, why he goes in fits and is so mad or angry at times? Why a young American be so rude to a cute teenage waitress who spilled coffee on a table?

It's almost unheard of. The guy travels in Europe for a while too, so, it doesn't fit the profile. Moreover, if he was not on good terms with his father why is he even judgmental towards his grandfather?

Why is he constantly quarreling with his best friend? I donno.

Her role is better developed in the script. The plot: the main idea of a family search for a long lost grandpa is meaningless to the viewer, there is no background to prompt the interest and appears to be only in the movie to hold the movie together.

However, all those bits and pieces are beautifully glued by Copenhagen's images of cobbled narrow streets, canals and crowded clubs and interesting music in the background.

That, the cute Danish accent and the age of Effy add to the more dimensional atmosphere of the film. There is something I cannot point to, perhaps the nostalgia I lived in Sweden for more than a year and have great memories or the fact that the main character grows up suddenly and makes the right choice made this film interesting enough for me to watch it to the end.

Adapted from the Tony award-winning play by Michael Frayn, Copenhagen is set in the titular Denmark capitol in the year It will never be known what these two men, so politically divergent yet so much alike in their scientific goals, discussed during that fateful meeting several attempts to reconstruct their conversation from memory proved both futile and bitterly divisive , though it is a matter of record that both men had discovered the methodology for splitting the atom -- which, of course, was the foundation for the atomic bomb.

Frayn's play offers a fanciful yet utterly believable and incredibly witty and charming speculation on the words that might have passed between the idealistic Bohr played by Stephen Rea and the pragmatic Heisenberg Daniel Craig -- as recalled decades later by the principal characters from the vantage point of the Afterlife.

Howard Davies. Michael Frayn. Mar 29, Stephen Rea as Neils Bohr. Daniel Craig as Werner Heisenberg. Francesca Annis as Margrethe Bohr.

Jul 08, Once their mentor student relationship was close, but now they are on opposite sides. Heisenberg had a chance to flee his native Germany when Hitler came to power while Bohr is half-Jewish and is deeply worried, though not currently threatened.

So, while the two could previously talk freely about physics, now they have to watch what they say, especially as it pertains to the possibility of an atomic weapon.

That makes this a possibly crucial moment in time when it could have gone in many different directions and the film cleverly explores this from their present and an afterlife they could scarcely have imagined, in order to assess their respective culpabilities.

Not to dampen the fun, but from what I read at an exhibit at the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque, there were quite a few reasons why the Nazis never developed an atomic weapon, the least of which being that they thought it would be unnecessary since they would win the war so quickly.

This is a sentiment that is reflected in Heisenberg's optimism on his arrival in Copenhagen. Getting back to New Mexico for a second, it is weird that in "Breaking Bad" that Walter White Bryan Cranston takes the nom du crime of Heisenberg when he is a chemist, not a physicist.

On the other hand, I know the names of many more physicists than chemists, so maybe they are just sexier, although not as much as biologists Walter M Super Reviewer.

Effy is a teenager - half of William's age, but wise beyond her years. Together they track down William's relatives, but during the process, both William and Effy grow and perhaps fall in love with each other.

Red L Super Reviewer. Mar 29, Writer-director-editor Mark Raso has created an energetic, seductive, revelatory, romantic film.

Gethin Anthony plays William, a 28 year old jerk who is visiting Denmark to deliver a letter from his estranged father to a grandfather he never met.

Copenhagen serves as a visually striking setting whether in the daytime or the night. Frederikke Dahl Hansen plays a local girl, half William's age named Effy, who appears to be quite mature.

In fact, within a month she will have reached Denmark's age of consent. So, there is a bit of a culture clash between the characters and probably between American audiences and European audiences when it comes to the age difference and what constitutes "underage" in relation to drugs and sex.

Effy, innocently enough, helps William find his grandfather, trace his father's childhood, and do some self-discovery.

The two main characters' relationship is tested and the conclusion shows real growth in this coming-of-age tale. Byron B Super Reviewer.
